About YELANG & H3 Technology

Tritium luminescence is the result of cutting-edge technology research and development. It is a currently rare and scientific application of this technology in the luminescent system of watches.

Tritium luminescence does not require batteries or charging from sunlight, is maintenance-free, and has a lifespan of at least 25 years.

What is Tritium (H3)

This is a technology that utilizes the half-life of tritium to emit light. Tritium, known as tritium hydrogen, is an isotope heavier than hydrogen, and its reactive nature is on par with hydrogen.

It often exists in the form of two gas atoms. However, tritium gas is unstable and, after a period of 12 years and 3 months, half of it will decay into the inert gas helium. This is also a continuous light-emitting process, but it is a beta decay process that does not produce any harmful gamma rays, only low-energy electrons are released during this process.

Functional Principle

The luminescence is created by sealing H3 gas in special glass tubes. The inside of the glass tube is coated with a luminescent material (a thin layer), and when the tritium gas is encapsulated in the glass tube, it gets "activated" and the layer illuminated by the tritium gas (the emitted charge generates light).

YELANG Military Watches

The entire series of YELANG watches utilizes the H3 tritium self-luminous luminescent system.
